Loulé is bordered by Albufeira in the south-west, Silves in the north-west, Faro in the south-east, São Bras de Alportel and Tavira in the east and Alcoutim in the north-east. Loulé is approximately 20kms south-east of Faro airport.
General information - Loulé is the biggest geographical council in the region with a total land area totalling 764.2 km². It borders six other councils including the Alentejo and is a coastal council with the exclusive estates of Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo enjoying unspoilt sand and sea to the south with the Atlantic Ocean. To the north region becomes hilly, allowing for panoramic views of the Algarve from east to west.
Facilities - Loulé shares the Algarve football stadium with the Faro council, a stadium which has a capacity of 30,000 and was one of the first stadiums to be used in the Euro2004 competition.
Town day - Loulé town day falls on the same day as the Ascension Day. Therefore the date can vary.
Town Parishes in the Municipality - Almancil, Alte, Ameixal, Benafim, Boliqueime, Quarteira, Querença, Salir, São Clemente, São Sebastião and Tor. Please note that the estates of Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo which are an extension of Almancil, also fall into the Loulé council, but are not parishes.
