Alcoutim is bordered in the north by Mértola, in the east by Huelva (Spain), in the southeast by Castro Marim, in the southwest by Tavira and in the west by Loulé. Alcoutim has been deemed to be one of the less populated areas in Portugal. Alcoutim is 96.5kms from Faro airport.
